This past week as a graduation gift for me and a birthday gift for one of my best friends we got to go on a cruise with our mothers. Last year we went to Atlanta with our mothers and had so much fun we decided that we needed to go on another trip this summer. Little did we know that our mothers had already planned this whole thing out and on May 16th we both opened two packages each with numerous things inside telling us about our amazing cruise trip to Key West and the Bahamas. The week before the trip I had to go to the doctor and have a TB test done for next school year. I had started to get a cold and I was afraid that they wouldn't let me take the test, but they said it was no problem. Two days later I was back because I had become so sick and my tonsils had swollen so badly that I could barely talk (which is a BIG problem for me). Even though the doctor wasn't sure exactly what I had he gave me some antibiotics and sent me on my way. I saw my grandfather later who is a retired doctor and he decided I had mono. I was so scared that I was going to have to miss my trip. Luckily for me I recovered quickly and my best friend had already had mono so there was no worries there. (This is the reason I was not at campmeeting for all who would like to know).
The day finally came for us to drive to Charleston and head out to sea. We were all so excited! I have to say everything was very fun, I had trouble not comparing this cruise to the last one I took but despite that I had an amazing time. The first day out was a sea day(a day spent at sea with nothing around but LOTS of water). I love sun and water so I was ready for some pool side fun! Well since the boat was FULL there was hardly a seat left by the pool so we ended up on a deck overlooking the pool which ended up to be very entertaining. Unfortunately I was so excited about being able to tan and swim that I forgot that lovely thing called sun tan lotion. Now usually I don't burn, if I do it goes away in about one day. Well I stayed burned for about four days if not longer and every night I would barely hit my burn with the sheets and it would sting for about five minuets. My mother was starting to think this was strange as well and suddenly she remembers the antibiotics I had been taking right before we left and said "I bet that made you more sensitive to the sun!" Well that is when I got mad at the doctor because he knew we were going on the this trip and he didn't remember to tell me that I would be sensitive to the sun!!! At the least I was ticked off, if I had known that I would have remembered to apply sun screen and LOTS of it. But on the upside I loved Key West and being at the southern most point of the USA. I had also never been to the Bahamas so I was VERY excited to be able to get yet another stamp in my passport. All in all despite the hotness and sunburn the trip was very very fun and I can't wait till next year to see what our little group of four will be doing. :)
